National Night Out
The Waynesboro
Police Department is hosting the 27th annual National Night Out on
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Park in
Waynesboro.
We are
inviting the community to “lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend
the evening outside with neighbors, police and emergency services personnel”.
National Night
Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2)
Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3)
Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a
message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting
back.
Activities include: an
emergency vehicle display, K9 Demo/Patrol, Bike Officer Patrol/Bike Safety/Bike
Registration, Kickball Games, Bowling with DUI Goggles, Communities That Care
with Child ID Kits (fingerprinting and photographing of children), Verstandig
Broadcasting (101.5 WBHB, 92.1 WPPT, 104.7 WAYZ and 1380 WCBG ESPN Radio) along
with Bob Steele, McGruff the Crime Dog, Display Booths with Information on Drug
and Crime Prevention, Free Hotdogs and Ice Cream from Antietam Dairy.
You can bring
your bike to be registered with the local police department.
Bring a
lawn chair and join us in “Giving Neighborhood Crime and Drugs a Going Away
Party”.
