The Waynesboro Police Department operates 24/7 to serve and protect the people in the borough of Waynesboro, PA. The borough has a population of approximately 10,000 people covering a geographic area of 3.4 square miles.
The department currently employs 23 people, with 21 sworn officers (20 full-time
and one part-time) and two clerical staff. The Police Department is under the
direction of Police Chief Mark King, who reports to Mayor Richard Starliper. The Chief of Police is the primary administrator of the Waynesboro Police Department and is assisted in the administration of the Department by one sergeant
and three corporals. The Department has one canine named "Ex," one canine officer,
one DARE Officer, one drug investigator and one officer trained in bicycle patrol. The Department has
four marked squad cars, one canine car, and one unmarked car.

The Mission of the Waynesboro Police Department is to enhance the quality of life within the Borough of Waynesboro. Quality of life within the Borough of Waynesboro will be enhanced through the protection of life and property, the enforcement of laws in a fair and impartial manner, the preservation of peace, order, and safety of the community served, the safeguarding of constitutional rights, and the providing of other related services as required by the community in a manner consistent with the values of society.
